AN OPEN LETTER TO GE SECURITY DEALERS AND USERS
As featured in The Wall St Journal, Monday 21st September, 2009.
Dear Security Colleagues,
As reported by the Bloomberg News Service on August 26, General Electric is now in the process of putting its GE Security Products division up for sale. This may leave you, whether you are a GE Security system dealer, user, or specifier, in limbo. And frankly, we'd like to talk with you about this.
We're Gallagher Security Management Systems, a global leader in security system research, design, and manufacturing. Gallagher provides integrated security management solutions to a wide range of customers worldwide. We design and manufacture Cardax™ electronic access control and intruder alarm systems and PowerFence™ perimeter security systems.
And, by the way, if you don't know us but the name sounds familiar, it's because we developed the first electric fence, giving birth to our company in 1938. We are singularly focused on creating state-of-the-art, reliable solutions to address one of the most significant issues facing our generation – the security of our people, our information, and our property.
Today, we protect a wide variety of high-profile clients, including embassies and other highly secure government offices, NATO sites, banks, critical infrastructure, large mines, and even irreplaceable items like the crown jewels of ancient civilizations. These sites are located in some of the most hostile environments, both physically and politically, that you can imagine. Because we have been able to do such a great job in these difficult circumstances, we are very confident as we focus our efforts on the needs of North American companies that we can do a great job here as well.
GE's decision to sell off its security products division will, in my opinion and based on my own experience of acquiring companies, result in disruption and uncertainty for those who have already invested in GE security products. The inevitable changes that we have seen from all of the consolidations in the security industry have always created real concerns for product continuity and support.
Even as GE is exiting the security business, Gallagher is in a major expansion of our North American presence. We continue to have significant business growth that compels us to keep putting down even stronger roots here. We welcome discussions with those who sell, service, specify, or use GE security systems, and look forward to helping you protect your initial investment while future-proofing your company against the inevitable changes that are coming.
For many companies in our industry, including GE, security is just one of many business lines for them. For Gallagher, it is a core business and our passion. We have been protecting people, information, and property for over 70 years, and we intend to be doing so over the next 70 years as well.
Gallagher Security Management Systems will be at the ASIS security industry trade show in Anaheim this week. We would love to meet you and show you what has made our clients such long time business partners. As always, I'll be there, and I would love to meet you and introduce you to my North American team.
Let's shake hands and work together to help secure your business.
Bill Gallagher, Hons.Dr, CNZM, MBE
