The Gallagher Group sponsors Habitat for Humanity and John Gallagher works fulltime for the organisation. Habitat for Humanity International brings families and communities in need together with volunteers and resources to build decent, affordable housing. Habitat for Humanity International is a nonprofit, nondenominational Christian housing organization. They build simple, decent, affordable, houses in partnership with those in need of adequate shelter. Since 1976, Habitat has built more than 100,000 houses in more than 79 countries, including some 30,000 houses across the United States.






Gallagher Group has made significant sponsorship contribution to Hamilton's Waikato Stadium. The new stadium will be the Headquarters of the Chiefs and Waikato NPC. The stadium will have a revolutionary new playing surface and excellent acoustics caused by the shape of the stadium. A cauldron atmosphere has been created by dropping the ground 2.6m. The stadium has a total ground capacity of 27,500 people.




The Gallagher Group sponsors local aquatic and hockey centers. The Gallagher Aquatic Centre is Hamilton's newest swimming facility. Opened in Melville in 1997, it has a 25 metre pool and toddlers pool. The pools offer a disabled access ramp for enabling people with disabilities easy access to the pool and family changing rooms. The Gallagher Hockey centre provides hockey facilities in Hamilton City. Based in Innes Common, the water based grounds are the first of its kind in Hamilton.




The Gallagher Group sponsors the Waikato Westpac Trust Rescue helicopter. WestpacTrust rescue helicopters and air ambulance services provide a dedicated 24 - hour, seven day a week service that makes a life or death difference for many New Zealanders. If an injured person is transferred to hospital within an hour of an accident their chance of survival increases from 30 to 60 percent. This is called the golden hour and it is a guiding principle for all rescue helicopter services. Helicopters maneuverability means they can get to places that road and sea rescue vehicles can't reach and they can get there quickly.




The Academy of Performing Arts at Waikato University officially opened in March 2001, and provides brilliant new facilities to the University. The complex comprises a 350-seat music auditorium, a 170-seat drama theatre, a Whare Tapere Iti for Maori Performing Arts, and a dance studio. In addition to being used by students, various top performers are selecting the Academy as their venue of choice.




The Institute of Rural Health is established to promote rural health in the North Island of New Zealand through teaching, research, best practice and support of rural health professionals, and in particular:
  • To promote an environment for the development of research and teaching which advances knowledge and informs change in rural health service delivery.
  • To provide governance for contracts held by, and employees of, the Institute
  • To promote an improvement in rural Maori health
  • To ensure a stable rural health workforce sensitive to community needs
  • To develop a national resource for advice on rural health issues
